PAROLE ISSUES WILL NOT BE ADDRESSED

Georgia Department of Corrections will have a meeting on January 25, 2019 for family members and significant others of offenders incarcerated in the Georgia prison system. The purpose of this meeting is for family members to meet with Departmental representatives and discuss issues concerning the incarceration of their love one(s). Offenders are responsible for notifying anyone on their APPROVED VISITATION LIST who may want to attend this meeting.

What you need to know:

1.) How should you prepare for Family Day?
Prior to arriving, consider what questions you might have and write them down.

2.) What should you expect when you arrive?

  • Check-in main entrance; please have your ID and the offender’s GDC number readily available
  • GDC will have security procedures in place; to ensure fast processing, please only bring what is necessary (i.e.
    pen, paper, ID, keys)
  • Family or significant others must be on the offender’s approved visitation list
  • GDC will issue color-coded numbers, corresponding to the individual/section with whom you wish to speak

3.) Physical Assistance
The event location is handicapped accessible and all spaces are on one floor; however, be prepared to walk or stand for extended periods of time. Handicapped parking is limited.

4.) Recommended attire
We recommend wearing comfortable clothing and shoes. There is a possibility you will be walking or standing for extended periods of time.

5.) Time with GDC representative
In order to ensure we are able to address the concerns of as many individuals as possible, please try to limit your time spent with a GDC representative to 10 minutes, if possible.

Those who would like to speak with the Commissioner will be required to sign up for an appointment upon arrival. Scheduling will be based on first come, first serve, and appointment times are limited so he can see as many people as possible.
